Catalog > Electric Fence Splicers, Tensioners, and Clamps Splicing Buckles for 0.5" Polytape About Splicing Buckles, Tensioners, and Clamps: There’s no need for wire or polywire splicers–wire ends can be braided together and polywire ends can be tied together. But joining tape (especially 1.5-inch tape) and polyrope is not so easy. For this purpose, splicing buckles for tape (products 5-5, 5-6, and 8-1) and a clamp for polyrope (product 8-6) are recommended. Regarding tensioners, there is little need for tensioners with wire, polywire, polyrope or narrow polytape if the fence is short. But for long fences, especially if a professional finished look is desired, tensioners become useful, and when wide polytape is used they become important. Splicing Buckles for 0.5" Polytape Besides joining two 0.5" polytape ends, one of these buckles (product 5-5) can serve as a gate handle connector, and the other (product 5-6) can be used as a gate anchor. Splicing Buckle for 1.5" Polytape Easy to use. 1.5" Tape Tensioners for Fence Corners and Ends Use the tape corner and end tensioner combo (product 8-2) on steel T-posts; use the tape corner tensioner (product 8-3) and tape end tensioner (product 8-4) on wood posts. Tighteners for Wire, Polywire, and 0.5" Polytape Use a plastic tightener (product 08-05) with polywire or 0.5" polytape. It can be placed anywhere along the fence line and requires no post. For metal wire (including high tensile wire) and also for polywire use a metal tightener (product 08-14). Clamps for Polyrope and Polywire These metal clamps tighten with a screw. They are well-suited to joining polyrope or polywire; and with only slight additional effort one can also use them to adjust tension on the line of up to roughly 40 pounds. The polyrope clamp (08-06A) comes with a collar that makes tightening rope by hand easy. Clamps and Splicers for High-Tensile Wire The high-tensile clamps/splicers offered here are versatile in that they can handle a wide range of different gauges. The splicer on the left (08-32) works best with 12.5 gauge wire, but it can link smooth wires ranging from 12.5 gauge all the way down to 16 gauge. Similarly, the kwik-splices (08-36) can accommodate 12.5 to 15.5 gauge galvanized high-tensile wire. These splices need to be applied with a kwik-splice tool (product 08-37). |
